Spinach burani is a classic Iranian spinach yoghurt with lots of spinach and garlic, usually served with bread and is a very healthy snack or appetizer.
Burani is a cold dish based on Iranian yoghurt. Apparently, it has been said that Purandekht, the daughter of Sassanid king Khosrow Parviz, loved cold food with yogurt. When she was declared queen, the name Purani was given to foods that consisted of yoghurt. Later, Purani became Burani.
Burani Haraz, based on low-fat yoghurt with a thick texture and combined with spinach, is a very good source of mineral salts, especially iron and potassium.
